Inside Medicine

on BBC Two England

Presented by Barbara Myers

Do you tell an active teenager he has cancer? If his mother forbids his doctor to reveal the truth should the doctor comply? As medicine becomes increasingly complex doctors are constantly facing ethical questions like this and often have difficulty in answering them. Some hospitals suggest bringing together social workers, psychiatrists and even lawyers and philosophers to help the doctor.
Tonight's Inside Medicine reveals a discussion that resulted over the boy with cancer.
