The Drossmouth repertory company are busy rehearsing next week's play under the direction of their erratic producer, Harry Black , when the arrival of the author plunges them into even greater difficulties than usual. Quite apart from anything else, the aristocratic-sounding Jeremy St Clair turns out to be an elderly spinster with her own ideas about how her play should be produced.
