Milou en Mai

on BBC Two England

Black comedy, being shown in tribute to its director, Louis Malle, who died recently.
Starring Michel Piccoli, Miou-Miou

1968: rioting students and workers have brought France to a standstill and revolution seems imminent. Milou's beloved mother has died, but it is impossible to organise a funeral because of the strikes. His rapacious family descend like vultures, creating turmoil and sexual mayhem. As society crumbles, basic instincts become very basic indeed.
A French film with English subtitles.
