The Knowledge: The Chosen Few

on BBC Two England

A six-part series of documentaries examining a wide range of important education issues.

On the 30th anniversary of the abolition of the universal 11-plus, selection, albeit in a different form, is now creeping back into the state education system. This film follows the fortunes of a group of children in Ripon, North Yorkshire through two rounds of testing and their long wait for the day of the results and either success or disappointment. These tests could determine the future of the children for many years to come.
