Sky Doctor
A Lifeline for the Outback Narrated by Michael Dean
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is as Australian as ' 'Waltzing Matilda' and kangaroos. Now in its 55th year, it continues to provide a ' Mantle of Safety' over the Inland's two million square miles, an area as great as France and Spain combined.
The World About Us, this week, joins Dr Robert Liddell as he pilots his small aircraft out of Jandakot Base, near Perth, on a medical' round' that will take him from the Indian Ocean to the fringe of the Gibson Desert, during which he visits the tiny communities and isolated homesteads for which the only medical help can come from the sky.
