A confrontation with fear - Ariadne and the beast in the labyrinth; the spirit of revenge - Medea's jealous slaughter of her rival: two of Martha Graham 's classic dance dramas seen for the first time on television.
These are performed together with a recent abstract dance work choreographed to CARL NIELSEN'S Helios overture, and celebrating a progress through darkness into light. Each of the dances is presented by Martha Graham herself, now in her 90s, one of the greatest names in American theatre. Introduced by Robert Cohan , himself former lead dancer with the Martha Graham Dance
