The Gold Rush

on BBC Two England

Comedy, the first in a week-long celebration of classic films starring Charlie Chaplin

In snowbound Sierra Nevada, a lone prospector is driven to seek shelter in a log cabin. Also sheltering are Black Larson and Big Jim McKay. Hunger leads to rows and some inventive food preparations. In this specially prepared sound version, released in 1942, Chaplin himself narrates and a musical score is added.
