Tonight's film in this season of outstanding films of the past 10 years from the movie capital stars Marlon Brando

Brando, perhaps Hollywood's greatest acting discovery of the fifties, plays Harrison Carter MacWhite, America's new and inexperienced ambassador to a South-East Asian state. MacWhite's failure to distinguish between the desire for independence and Communist infiltration almost involves his own country in a major confrontation.
