The first showing on network television for this musical biography of rock legend Jim Morrison , starring Val Kilmer , Meg Ryan and Kyle MacLachlan
Oliver Stone's intense portrayal of the so-called "Lizard King" and demon prince of 60s rock begins in California in 1965, with the 22-year-old Morrison spending his time on the beach writing poetry and taking drugs. After dropping out of college with fellow student Ray Manzarek he formsthe Doors with two other musicians.
The remaining film catalogues Morrison's journey to an early grave in 1971, combining brilliantly staged concert sequences with his now legendary narcotic and sexual habits. Classic hits such as Riders on the Storm, Hello, I Love You, Break On
Through, Light My Fire and The End are all featured along the way.
