The Ascent of Man

on BBC Two England

A personal view by J. Bronowski. The Long Childhood
In this, the last of 13 programmes, Dr Bronowski - poet, playwright, mathematician and philosopher - draws together the many threads of the series.
From his own home in California he takes stock of man's complex, and sometimes precarious, ascent, drawing on experiences from his own lifetime. The longest childhood of all, he argues, is that of man himself, growing to self-knowledge.
