Raymond Baxter reports.
A visit to C.E.R.N. near Geneva.
The giant particle accelerators - the cyclotron and the synchrotron - are the marvels of our age, in size, in cost, in the precision of their design, and in the engineering skills required to build them. They enable the nuclear physicist to study the interaction of mass and energy within the tiny nucleus which is the heart of the atom.
