Over the years, the 24-hour race at Le Mans has been the best endurance test in the world for sports cars. Bentley and Jaguar, Ferrari and Ford, have gone to any lengths to win it. But is the race this afternoon a contest between sports cars the motorist can buy? Or has Le Mans become a showplace for high-powered prototypes made regardless of price or the public?
