The Lictors Bearing to Brutus the Bodies of his Sons at The Louvre, Paris
This picture shows Brutus and his family receiving back the bodies of the two youths. Though it was first exhibited in 1789, it was concerned with expression of a family's grief rather than with the implications of the French Revolution. Written and narrated by ANITA BROOKNER
