Where the Wild Things Are

on BBC Two England

A Fantasy Opera in One Act by Oliver Knussen
Libretto, based on his famous picture book, by MAURICE SENDAK
A young boy, Max, is playing and creating chaos. His mother, exasperated, sends him to bed without any supper. In his bedroom Max conjures up a fantasy world of forest and sea and sails to the land of the Wild Things to rumpus all the night. At last, home-sick, he returns 'through days and nights and even weeks and surely over a year' to his longed-for home.
