Starring and Shigeyuki's laziness keeps him towards the bottom of his class. Anxious for his son to make good progress, Numata hires a tutor. Shigeyuki's grades improve and he learns to cope with school bullies but the tutor has a very strange effect on the rest of the family. Yoshimitsu Morita made his name in comedy films. The Family Game, with its mixing of social comment and black humour, is his first international success.
