In the first part of Romeo and Juliet we meet the Montague and Capulet families. Their long-running feud involves almost everyone in the town of Verona - especially the young males.

Romeo has split up from Rosaline and is full of sorrow. In the Capulet household Juliet's mother has asked her to consider marrying a count called Paris.

The Capulets throw a party and when the Montague boys gatecrash Romeo meets Juliet…and they fall in love. Only problem is their families are sworn enemies.

Romeo marries Juliet in secret. But what will happen if they tell their parents? Could it help to end the war between the Montagues and Capulets?

Juliet's cousin Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight. When Romeo refuses his friend Mercutio steps in, but is killed by Tybalt. Romeo takes revenge by killing Tybalt and is banished from Verona.

Romeo has been banished and must go into hiding. Meanwhile the Capulets prepare a hasty marriage for Juliet.

Romeo hasn't received the message that Juliet is only in a drug-induced coma. He believes her to be dead and kills himself. When Juliet wakes to find Romeo dead she too kills herself.

Juliet's father and Romeo's father shake hands. They vow to build statues in memory of their dead children.

The story of Romeo and Juliet comes to an end and the songs from the series are rehearsed ready for a final performance.
