Edward Hold , of Sunderland, is a post-office engineer. He has been collecting gramophone records for twenty-five years and today he owns a private library of nearly a thousand recordings.
Encouraged by meetings and correspondence with such celebrities as Gigli, Lawrence Tibbett , and Giovanni Martinelli, Mr. Hold founded, at the beginning of this year, the Sunderland Musical Appreciation Club.
Every fortnight, before a steadily increasing audience, Mr. Hold leads discussions on music, illustrated by records from his extensive collection.
