Dick Reed , a Sunderland man, is one of the best-known figures in the world of the Variety theatre. As supervisor for Moss Empires and General Theatres Corporation he knows hundreds of stars of stage, screen, and radio. Some of them, indeed, were his discoveries.
For many years he has been a keen collector of gramophone records -all, without exception, records by stars who are his friends. Tonight listeners will hear a selection of these recordings together with intimate stories of music-hall favourites.
