An appeal on behalf of THE NEW X-RAY DEPARTMENT OF THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE ROYAL INFIRMARY by Lady MARY STRICKLAND
The Gloucestershire Royal Infirmary was founded nearly two centuries ago when' a scheme was put forward for 'making a Publick and General Hospital' whose object would be 'to provide good physick, advice and attendance for the sick and lame who are not in circumstances to provide for themselves '. From its earliest days the hospital steadily grew in accommodation and service. Its greatest expansion was in 1933 when over £40,000 was expended in the erection of a new block comprising a new ophthalmic and other special departments and wards for paying patients. This year a further £1 1,000 has been spent on the erection of a new X-ray Department and it is to meet this cost that tonight's appeal is being made.
