The Tabernacle is the oldest non-episcopal Church in Aberystwyth. The first meeting house was built in 1785, and this is the fourth chapel to be built on the same site.
Much of the history of the Presbyterian Church of Wales is intimately connected with this Church, for it was here that the 'Confession of faith' of the Connexion was finally ratified in 1823.
