Cwm Cynllwyd , near Llanuwchlyn, one of the beauty spots of North 
- Wales, is the birthplace of Meirion Morris. As a boy, he became well known for his rich soprano voice. He then studied under 
Emlyn Diivies , the late Wilfrid Jones , and Powell Edwards. 
He sang at- the National Eisteddfod Wagner concert of 1933, which was conducted by Sir Adrian Boult. He has won over eight hundred prizes at Eisteddfodau, and the Gwen Frangcon-Davies gold medal as the best soloist at the Bangor National Eisteddfod in 1931.
