Questions of the Hour in Welsh Drama

This week the British Drama League meets in conference at Cardiff, and representatives of the Welsh Dramatic Movement will meet one of their distinguished guests in a short discussion in the studio
The British Drama League, which this week for the first time makes Cardiff the headquarters of its annual meeting, was founded in 1919. Its object is to assist the development of the art of the theatre, and to promote a right relation between drama and the life of the community. With the aid of the Carnegie Trust a lending library was instituted which now contains over 30.000 volumes, a collection that has proved of great use to amateur societies and the professional repertory theatres. Later, the League organised the National Festival of Community Drama-a one-act play competition which now receives entries from over six hundred amateur societies in England, Scotland, and Wales. The five best teams perform their plays annually at the Old Vie, and the winner receives the cup offered by Lord Howard de Walden.

This is a quiet little show, following on the same lines as its popular predecessor, ' When Day is Done '. As the billing suggests, the programme consists mainly of love songs and romantic tunes, which are played non-stop.
