Les Seager and the Craigside Rhythm Band with MILDRED HAMMOND (soprano)
(By permission of Colwyn Bay Follies,
Colwyn Bay) from the Craigside Hotel Hydro, LIandudno
Les Seager's rhythm band is a combination of first-class musicians, all of whom come from the North Wales coast. The leader, Les Seager, and his two brothers form the backbone of the band, while all the players have been together for so long that it is not surprising that good team work is the result. In addition to being winners of various dance-band contests, the players can boast of being the first to introduce swing music into the leading hotels of North Wales. At Craigside Hydro their originality makes them a magnet to the dancing public of Llandudno. There are two orchestrators in the band. One is Les Seager and the other is Sid Parsons, the first trumpeter, and between them they have devised many special numbers specially arranged to suit the individual mannerisms of each player.
