In most towns in Britain the nineteenth and twentieth centuries produced more change than all the rest put together. This talk will embrace a short history of Cardiff's rise from the comparatively insignificant though historic town of the early nineteenth century to the great city it is today. The speaker, G. F. Courtney , will describe its advance in Victorian times and will comment upon the extraordinary development of its suburbs. A feature of this talk will be the introduction of an old inhabitant, who will give personal reminiscences at the microphone.
