Introduction-George Blake
George Blake introduces tonight a new series of talks which will be an examination, illustrated by personal stories, of the social consequences of the week-end out-of-doors movement, which has grown up in the last few years.
The next five talks will tell how various people make their escape for the week-end. Listeners will hear
Alastair Borthwick on mountain-climbing, a cyclist, a girl hiker, Alistair Dunnett on canoeing, and John Nimlin , an unemployed man who spends his spare time on the hills.
The last two talks will be by a youth-hostel warden and a discussion between Alastair Borthwick and a landowner on problems such as trespass and access to mountains and moors.
