Back in the 'seventies of last century, just as nowadays, Scotland had its church extension schemes to meet the needs of a growing population. Rubislaw Church was one of five built in Aberdeen round about that time. It was opened for worship in June, 1875, with the late Professor Henry Cowan as its first minister.
The church, with a membership of 1,150, is in the West End of Aberdeen and serves the large residential area where the clock tower is a familiar landmark.
