Here is another in the series of Victorian musical evenings designed by Helen Drever , which are popular not merely with old folk who remember the tunes they revive, but with younger listeners who enjoy hearing how our grandparents diverted themselves in the days when there was no radio or cinema.
Helen Drever has based her characters for these shows on real people whom she knew long ago. Her last programme, 'A Croquet Party at the Manse ', landed right in the middle of the crisis in September when every producer and cast were all feeling most depressed, yet listeners wrote praising the programme, one saying it restored her balance in such terrifying times
