In his talk introducing the whole series Lord Wark said about the very controversial subject to be discussed today: ' In my opinion, there is nothing wrong in itself about Sunday sport. There may be many individual cases in which it is amply justified for reasons of health alone. When I am asked what is the harm in a game of golf or tennis or a cycling or motor run or a long walk or climb on Sunday, I must answer that there is nothing wrong in any of them. But on the other hand, sport is a very poor substitute for the type of recreation which a true understanding of the nature of the day makes possible.'

This is the third concert of Music from the Scottish Past which the BBC Scottish Orchestra has given outside the studio, the first two having been held in Inverness and Perth. This series gives concert-goers an opportunity of becoming familiar with the rich store of music which has been recovered from forgotten books and MSS. by the research of Harry M. Willsher and others. It is hoped that in due course some of the items may find their way into the repertory of soloists and choral societies.
