' Highland Clearances '
A discussion between J. D. MACKIE , M.C., Professor of Scottish History and Literature in the University of Glasgow, and A. D. GIBB , LL.B., Regius Professor of Law in the University of Glasgow
Professor Dewar Gibb and Professor Mackie will discuss the Highland clearances which depopulated great areas of the North and West of Scotland in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Some of the history they touch upon is amongst the saddest of their country, but they will not confine themselves to the tragedies of long ago. They will also discuss modern movements in the Highlands and some of the schemes suggested for the undoing of the ill work of the clearances.
