This play, which was first performed in the Festival Theatre, Cambridge, on November 20, 1930, is described by the author as a plain sailing dramatic transcription of the charming old tale told in the Book of Tobit in the Apocrypha. One or two liberties have been taken with the text; the Jacobean language has been altered to a speech belonging to no particular period. The opinions of the characters are substantially unaltered, except those of Sara.
