Harold Coombs , who was born in Sheffield, began his musical career at the age of six by giving recitals on the pianoforte in Sheffield and district. At eleven he was assistant organist of St. Oswald's Church, Sheffield ; at thirteen he applied for the post of organist and choirmaster at a large Sheffield church, passed the audition, was chosen out of numerous applicants, and then told that he looked too young ; at fourteen he went on the stage as solo pianist; at sixteen was appointed organist of Norton Lees Church, Sheffield ; at seventeen became musical director of a picture house orchestra, and so on. For the past thirteen years he has been a cinema organist.

It begins with an eight-minute talk by Mr. John Stephen , whose father was a line fisherman at Stonehaven, and continues with an actual broadcast from the deck of the steam drifter Mary Herd: The last and longest part is a relay from a cafe on the quayside
