Sir Andrew Maitland , who died in 1586 at the age of ninety, bridges with his long life the most brilliant epoch of Scottish poetry. William Dunbar was at the height of his power in Maitland s youth; Montgomery and Alexander Scott were writing during his latter life; and William Drummond , the friend of Ben Jonson , was born the year before Maitland's death.
A Programme of Song and Story from Kelso
Chairman, Provost J. SCOTT
Relayed from The Cross Keys Hotel
For the first time a programme is to be relayed from Kelso. Like other
Border towns, it is highly individualistic and has, of course, a history second to none The broadcast will be on lines similar to those of other ' Frae a the Airts' programmes, and it will be a sound picture of present-day life in Kelso, with references to the historic past. (From Edinburgh)
