The S.C.W.S. Band is not one of our oldest bands in Scotland. It was not formed until 1918, but it occupies a position second to none in the country. 
Its motto has always been Without halting, without rest, lifting better up to best', and the motto has obviously been an inspiring one when one considers the band's success in the world s championship contests at the Crystal Palace, London. The band has fulfilled engagements from Weymouth to Nairn, not only in big cities and before vast audiences, but also in villages and hamlets scattered throughout the length and breadth of Scotland. It has even appeared in prisons and hospitals, and on one occasion led the praise in a well-known Glasgow church.
