COUNTRY CLASH ', by Elsie Whightman , comprises two tales of village happenings told by gossiping old Mrs.
McLuskie. The first of these, entitled ' The Pairty ', is the story of a social evening, and the second, ' The Hat Trick', ', deals with a football match, but there is an unexpected humorous twist in both. Catherine Fletcher is an actress of repute and has played many parts, from George Bernard Shaw 's Queen Elizabeth to James Bridie 's comic landladies. She created the part of Gruach in Gordon Bottoinlcy 's beautiful poetic play.
