Tamar Hoggarth
An audition at the BBC studios brought this 78-year-old woman to Leeds for the first time. Mrs. Hoggarth is a native of Great Barugh, near Malton; she had never before journeyed very far from home. She is a grand characteristic type of old villager, speaking the East-Riding dialect in her everyday speech.
