The Little Orchestra
Directed by Jack Hardy with Doris Gambell (soprano)
Jack Hardy 's popular Little Orchestra is a combination of five players, with Jack Hardy at the piano, but it plays special arrangements of music for a small orchestra rather than the usual quintet music. Tonight the orchestra is to present a programme (ranging from Mozart's ' Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' to the Barcarolle from Tales of Hoffmann) not merely of musical works called Nocturnes, but of music that is nocturnal in that it is suited to playing at night.
