A story about Geordie Marley by Walter Diericx
Told by Sal Sturgeon
(From Newcastle)
'Ah went to Blaydon Races, 'twas on the ninth of June ... ' So runs the famous song, which has been called ' Tyneside's National Anthem'. Today is the seventy-fifth anniversary of BIaydon Races, and Jennie Marley (impersonated as usual by Sal Sturgeon ) is coming to the microphone to tell listeners how she and her pitman husband, Geordie, attended the famous meeting.
