Until the revolution in Russia, Glazunov's career was so straightforward and happy that it has been called 'A Fairy Tale set to Music.' His gifts were apparent while he was a mere child, end he had, in particular, a very remarkable memory for music. He has been n industrious composer all his life, and though much of his music follows the classical forms, particularly those of Brahms, more closely than the rest of the Russian school, it has, at the same time, something of the latter's strength and brilliance.
