' My Brother Jonathan ' is the fourth novel of Francis Brett Young to be chosen for serial reading at the microphone ; there have previously been serial readings of ' Portrait of Clare', 'Far Forest', and 'The House Under the Water Brett Young's play The Furnace has been twice broadcast and White Ladies, dramatised from the novel, once.
Francis Brett Young lives in Worcestershire, and has used a Midland setting as a background in many of his novels. My Brother Jonathan' is no exception, the scene being laid largely in Birmingham.
