A visit to the Birmingham Mint to find out how copper coinage is made
Coins for many foreign countries and colonies are made at the Birmingham Mint. Coins of the Realm-pennies-were last minted there in 1918. Besides making coins, the Birmingham Mint also makes mint machinery ; it supplied complete mints to Nankin, Canton and Bangkok. Six microphones will be used for this broadcast and the processes, which include milling, blanking, rimming, striking, and counting, will be heard and described. W.
