THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM ORCHESTRA
(Leader, ALFRED CAVE )
Conducted by LESLIE HEWARD
EMILY BROUGHTON (Soprano)
MARY ABBOTT (Pianoforte) The City of Birmingham Orchestra is unique in being the only organisation of its kind in this country receiving a subsidy from the rates of an .industrial city. It is a matter of civic pride that Birmingham, more than any other city in Great Britain, affords its citizens, including those least favourably circumstanced, frequent opportunities of enjoying music in its highest form, at little or no cost to themselves.
