Although the plot of this play is based on the assumption that there has been a reform in the present Law of Divorce, the broadcasting of it should in no way be taken as propaganda either against or in favour of such a reform, nor indeed as throwing a searchlight on a subject which may be distasteful to a number of people. The play is essentially one of conflict, of strong dramatic situation, and human emotion, representative of the author's work at its best and most distinguished.
