At a recent conference at Vezelay, which marked a hundred years since Romain Rolland 's birth, a large body of his unpublished writings was disclosed. They reveal him as not only a literary writer but a penetrating musical mind as well as a social thinker. Edward Lockspeiser. who attended the conference, draws a parallel between RoUand and Bernard Shaw.
