Mr. Berkeley, who formerly worked in the Conservative Political Centre, was Member of Parliament for Lancaster from 1959 until 1966. when the seat was lost to Labour. He is Honorary Treasurer of the Howard League for Penal Reform, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Africa Bureau. While in Parliament, he was Honorary Secretary of the United Nations Parliamentary Group.
