Silent Night? by J. D. Pye
Institute of Laryngology and OtelOKy, University of London
Many people have heard bats speak and know that they use ultrasonics to find their way about. The skill with which they do this has suggested to scientists that a better understanding of how bats obtain a picture of their surroundings might be of value in providing aids for the blind. Dr. Pye talks about recording and analysing these sounds and studying the physiology of the bat's curious face and ears.
