Since the war many members of the British Commonwealth have gained independence, and the Commonwealth is becoming an association of nations of many races and colours. Many of these new states have to contend with special problems. Their success is a matter of concern to the whole Commonwealth.
4-Planning an Economy
Ghana
Very few nations nowadays can be said to be economically independent, but most of the newly independent countries have specially difficult economic problems. They understandably want to strengthen their new political independence by achieving as independent an economy as possible, but most of them are under-developed countries needing more capital and more skilled labour.
In this programme Ghana, first of the African Colonies to attain independence, is taken as an example in discussing these economic questions, David WALKER , of the News Chronicle, is a'gain the main speaker, and the programme includes contributions from WILLIAM CLARK and from A. B. ATTAFUA , Registrar of Kumasi Technical College.
