A series of six programmes
Since the war many members of the British Commonwealth have gained independence, and the Commonwealth is becoming an association of nations of many races and colours. Many of these new states have to contend with special problems. Their success is a matter of concern to the whole Commonwealth.
2-Welding a Nation
Malaya
One of the problems besetting some of the new nations is that of welding a nation out of several different races. Malaya presents an outstanding example of this particular problem, and in this second programme in the series DAVID WALKER presents views of Malay Chinese, and Indian Malayans on some of the difficulties encountered. The programme includes a description of the problem by VERNON BARTLETT , who is now living in Malaya.
