Sudden increases in the number of animals have always puzzled zoologists. These ' plagues' appear to occur in rhythmical cycles, as did the locusts in Egypt, the lemmings of Norway, and as the cockroaches, it is predicted, will soon do in Germany. Mr. Elton will explain how watchers can help science by recording these changes.
