HISTORIC Reculver, en the Kentish coast, is at last being induced, by scientific exploration, to give up the secrets of its varied past as Roman fort and Saxon monastery. Excavation was begun there last September by Major Gordon Home, the giver of this talk. who three years ago raised the fund by which the site was saved. A well-known archæologist, he has done much exploration of almost inaccessible Roman sites in Algeria and Tripoli, and particularly in Djerba, the Island of the Lotus-Eaters.
