(Cerddorfa Genedlaethol Cymru)
Conducted by Warwick Braithwaite

Saint-Saens, who, throughout a great part of his long and busy life, was the acknowledged master musician of France, was a great traveller. As pianist, organist, and composer, he visited most of the countries of the world, but travelled besides for his own pleasure, and was more than once in Algiers. Listeners will remember that it was there that he died at the end of 1921, at the ripe old age of 86. This Suite records his impressions of an earlier visit to the North of Africa, and is worked out with all his skill in the use of the orchestral instruments, to give a very vivid and picturesque impression of that sunny part of the world.
